About Us
The origins of the Treadhoofalon came from a conversation Lain and Julie Hawk had with Marcus Tillman at the NEABA/ARC headquarters. Marcus suggested a chuck wagon cook off, but there was the slight problem on not having chuck wagons! The idea was brought up as a "what if" we could organize an event that would bring all trail users in the Anniston, AL area together and have a triathlon style competition. After careful thought and consideration, Lain and Julie reached out to NEABA, BCHA McClellan and Anniston Runners club to gauge the interest of such an event. After all of the clubs agreed that it would be worth pursing, it was brought to the attention of the McClellan Development Authority since there are miles and miles of trails that are used by all three clubs in close proximity to each other there. The MDA was equally as excited to see this event happen, and formal planning was launched.
The main goal of the Treadhoofalon is to get all of the local cycling, horseback riders and trail runners together to socialize and learn about each other and their respective disciplines so once they do meet on the trails, they have a good understanding of each other and what is expected. All of our groups are great stewards of the trail and we would like to prove we can all get along and have a great time together and enjoy the wonderful outdoors and trails that our area offers!
Our second goal of the Treadhoofalon is to be able to give back to the clubs. Any profit that the event makes will go directly back to the clubs that help make this event possible. Each club has designated a cause or charity to give back to. If you visit our charities page, you can find out more information about each clubs choice.
We hope you enjoy the Treadhoofalon as much as we enjoy watching all of you compete and the friendships you form by meeting new trail users. Best of luck!
